Artist Statement
The Blue Horse Project is a series of images printed as cyanotypes exploring equine beauty and the complex emotions that come with it. Through this series I want to delve into the deep bond between horses and humans illustrating the capacity of both for love, loyalty and the inevitable moments of tragedy. The choice of Cyanotype with its moody hues reflects both the tranquility and the melancholy that horses embody. The process of creating a cyanotype by setting it outside in the Arizona sun seems a fitting way to harness the light.
