First ever Photography Summer Camp for Kids

Posted

Last week Art Intersection’s classroom, darkroom and digital lab were filled with seven teenagers eager to learn the magic of photography.  They started out by learning the basics of film and the manual function on their cameras and then continued the week with photograms, cyanotypes, making prints in the darkroom, and making composites in the digital lab.

Most of these techniques were a first for the students, but still each had an image worth printing on his or her first roll of film, a brilliant blue cyanotype, a creative photogram, a beautifully printed silver gelatin print and a well thought out composite.

The week ended with a critique of all the work they made and a decision of which photographs they are going to include in the exhibition, No Strangers: The Art Intersection Creative Community. The opening reception is August 4, 7-9pm and continues through August 25, 2012. For more photos from the Summer Camp visit Facebook.
