Summer Art and Photography Classes for Ages 9 – 13
This summer, students, ages 9 through 13, can join the creative team at Art Intersection for an afternoon of making art in our Summer Youth Art Program.
A different art form will be explored every Tuesday in June and July (except, no class on July 1). Join us for one, or all, of the classes and go home with a finished piece of art each week, with all materials included in the price.
To pay for these classes buy a bundle of all 8 for $140, or click on the individual class and pay $20 within 24-hours of the class. You can drop-in to the class for $25 and pay at Art Intersection that day before the start of the class.
Nature Printing – June 3
Use blue light-sensitive chemistry, the sun, and found botanicals and objects to create a beautiful blue-toned one-of-a-kind piece of art. All materials included, but students are welcome to bring items from home to use in their artwork.
Photography Scavenger Hunt – June 10
Enhance your digital photography by using your creativity and a point-and-shoot camera to explore the Heritage Court building in search of the items on your list. Bring your own camera OR use one of ours and take home a CD of your images.
Make Art – June 17
Come play with Art Intersection’s art supplies to create a unique mixed media piece of art. Learn simple collaging techniques to incorporate into your work and leave with a finished piece. All materials included, but students are welcome to bring items from home to use in their artwork.
Drawing – June 24
Come discover your inner artist with graphite, charcoal, and ink as you learn new drawing techniques to improve your creativity. Take home your artwork.
Self-Portraits – July 8
Put yourself in front of the camera and explore portrait photography with Art Intersection’s equipment. Learn more about self-portraits and use lighting and props to create your one-of-a-kind portrait. Each student will take home 2 finished 5”x7” prints.
Painting with Light – July 15
See how photography allows you to experiment with time and light to draw colorful images in thin air. Each student will take home two finalized 5″ x 7” prints of the light images they created.
Metals Design – July 22
Learn to form metal wire into creative designs and use stones for jewelry or miniature sculptures. Make wearable art or something for your shelf in this fun metals class! All materials included.
Art Book – July 29
Learn to make your own book to store notes, drawings, photos, or your work from summer camp in. You will have time to embellish and decorate your final design. All materials included.
