Sustenance: Film and Event Series

Sustenance features the work of well-known and emerging national and international photographers who explore the topic of food from diverse perspectives: social, political, cultural, historical. On Tuesday evenings during the exhibit, September 18 – October 27, Northlight Gallery will collaborate with the community by expanding the perspective with speakers from local restaurants, businesses and farms who will talk about their roles and views, as well as with a film series featuring documentaries about food issues.  Sustenance is part of the Institute for Humanities Research, Food Initiative.

Exhibition Opening Catered by Pomegranate Cafe. Discussion with Pomegranate Cafe and Maya from Maya’s Farm.

September 25, 6pm at Northlight Gallery
Film and Discussion: Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead presented by Michael Ellenby of Rest of Your Life Productions. Mojo Bowl Food Truck will be selling fresh fruit smoothies.

October 2, 6pm at Northlight Gallery
Discussion with Greg Peterson from Root Phoenix and ASU Prof. Anthony Pessler.

October 9, 6pm at Northlight Gallery
Film and Discussion: Food Matters presented by Michael Ellenby of Rest of Your Life Productions.
 
October 16, 6pm at ASU’s Neeb Hall.
Film and Discussion: Vegucated presented by Vegan Arizona.

October 23, 6pm at Northlight Gallery
Discussion: True Grains: Revitalizing the Hayden Flour Mills Milling Process with Emma Zimmerman from Hayden Flour Mills.  SuperFarm SuperTruck will be selling delicious food.  Stop by the gallery for a coupon.
