Success: Self-Publishing a Photobook with Ken Rosenthal

With the increased visibility and popularity of the photobook, as well as the advent of print-on-demand technologies and crowd-sourced funding websites, there has been a surge in the number of self-published photobooks. Photographer Ken Rosenthal will detail his successful experience self-publishing a photobook, from conception to distribution. Ken’s presentation will cover his fully funded Kickstarter campaign, the design process, some of the complications encountered and lessons learned during the printing, and his strategies for distribution and promotion. To illustrate the process, Ken will show a large sampling of materials related to the production of the book, including initial design proposals, samples of bookcloths and papers, press sheets, as well as the finished trade and special edition books. Don’t miss this valuable discussion for anyone interested in self-publishing a photobook or any other book.

This event will be held in Singer Hall at Phoenix Art Museum, and is free and open to the public, no registration required.

NOTE: There will be a number of events at PAM that evening. Parking may be difficult. Please make plans to arrive early and have dinner first at Palette, or take light rail to the McDowell station.
