Jace Graf Workshop: Creating a Hard Cover Book and Clamshell Box
In this two-day intensive workshop, you will be introduced to the basic principles of hand bookbinding and box-making, and you will produce your own book and box set. The book will be a hand-sewn, multiple-signature hard cover structure featuring an innovative flexible spine. When finished, the book will fit in your box. This “drop spine” style is a versatile enclosure used to protect valuable books, photographs & other prints, and also for commercial and fine art portfolios.
Each student will receive a kit of pre-cut materials for both book and box, and will also learn techniques for producing more books and boxes at home with simple and readily available tools.
There is a $40 kit fee to be paid on the workshop day directly to Jace.
