Cyanotype Collage Artists’ Book
This workshop explores the artists’ book as a vehicle for expression. Unlike a blank handmade book the artists’ book has content. Participants will begin the process by creating a montaged image using the cyanotype printing processes. Cyanotype is a beautiful Prussian blue color that is easily changed to green, gold and purple with some simple toning baths. Participants can tone their books if they choose or keep the original color.
The montage is folded into a simple origami book form where it begins a narrative that will be further embellished with a variety of techniques including image transfer, cut out windows and several collage finishing techniques. The format of the book along with the intuitive process of collage creates a one of a kind artist book. No photographic or collage experience necessary.
