A unique art workshop experience in Vitiana, Italy
with six master artists/teachers

 June 3-12, 2009

"To live for art, is to live a life of questioning. And if you believe, as I do, that to live for art demands that every other part of life be moved towards one end, then the question, 'How shall I live?' is fierce."

-Jeanette Winterson/Art Objects

How shall we live? Live for art and live for love (Vissi d'arte, vissi d'amore) sounds so much better in Italian. So we decided to go directly to the heart of western civilization to inspire our workshop known as Art InterSection. Imagine an 8-day workshop in northern Tuscany in the charming medieval mountain village of Vitiana and the beautiful town of Bagni di Lucca which is the site of ancient Roman baths. Both are located 40 minutes from the city of Lucca and just 90 minutes west of Florence.

Each day will consist of an intersection of interdisciplinary arts: drawing, poetry, photography, bookmaking, performance, memoir writing and yoga. Through these experiences-drawing with light, drawing on paper, and drawing from our stories-our lives will collide with art and change the way we live. Central to this experience will be communal meals served in a traditional Italian manner. This program is limited to a maximum of 14 participants.
