Description

100 YEARS 100 RANCHERS is the culmination of more than 12 years of work for photographer Scott Baxter, who has captured Arizona’s ranching traditions, history, and future through this series of images. Baxter’s monochromatic studies, made with black-and-white large- and medium-format film, represents ranchers across Arizona – 100 men and women whose families have worked the land for 100 years or more.

The goal, as Scott said in the project’s inception, was “not to run in, grab a fleeting photograph and leave, but to get to know each individual and get a sense of their operation as well.”

As you’ll see on these pages – and in Baxter’s photographs – Arizona’s rancher endure.
