SUMMARY:Essence of a Photographer - Fifty Years of Images by Robert Rice
DESCRIPTION:Robert Rice brings six distinct bodies of work spanning over fifty years of his photography to the galleries at Art Intersection. Robert’s photographic creativity can be seen in the diverse range of images from simple daily life overlooked by most of us to beautiful\, striking landscapes\, and portraits commemorating personal events and life relationships. Roberts photography shows us not only his imagination and heart\, but the successful transition between the abstract and reality. \nEssence of a Photographer takes you on Robert’s life’s journey. From the memorialized images of Roz\, his close college friend\, to his heartfelt poetry from Alone After Midnight\, then his majestic portfolio\, The Field\, about the cycle of life\, and enticing collections of travel and landscape photographs\, and finally\, his Opus 99 portfolio of still life\, architecture\, and landscape images\, we feel Robert in every stage and chapter. \nAnsel Adams\, Henri Cartier Bresson\, Edward Weston\, and Michael Kenna influence his photography. He studied with Ansel Adams in the mid 1970’s in Yosemite and Tom Mallonee in the early 2000’s. As an avid collector of photography\, he surrounds himself in photographic works from acknowledged masters in the field to unknown\, energetic\, early career photographers. \nBased in Chandler\, Arizona\, Robert served as a U.S. Air Force officer\, Intel senior manager\, and as an active volunteer in the local community in a variety of roles. Acknowledging his school board leadership and work with community focused non-profits\, in 2020 Chandler School District Robert J. C. Rice Elementary was named for him.

The range of acceptable artwork encompasses sculpture\, glass\, photography\, painting\, ceramics\, wood\, printmaking\, mixed media\, artist books\, and more. Chosen works will be exhibited in the Art Intersection galleries and our online gallery. \nAll Art Arizona presents exciting work created by both well-known and emerging artists living in our own back yard\, the state of Arizona.  \nThe All Art Arizona opening reception draws artists\, art collectors\, and art lovers from all over the state to one of our best attended exhibitions of the year.
