SUMMARY:Advanced Digital Printing with Richard Jackson
DESCRIPTION:Printmaking is part of your artistic endeavor as a photographer. Seeing your image on a monitor and seeing your image as a print on paper can be two entirely different experiences. First time printmakers\, seeing their image as a print on paper\, can be disappointing. This workshop will concentrate on translating your image to a print on paper\, so it feels more like what you see on your monitor. \nDuring this two-day workshop\, you will acquire a much deeper understanding about how to visualize the transition from monitor to print. Additionally\, you will learn how to conceptualize your image as a finished artwork when seen in the display setting of your choice. \nIn our digital world we are not attuned to or have the experience of looking at our images as prints on paper. We start looking at an image first on our camera’s monitor\, then on our computer monitor. When photographers start making prints\, they are many times disappointed because the print doesn’t “feel” like what they have seen on their monitor or what might be in their head/expectation of the image as a print. \nTo resolve this requires a “deep dive” into image “deconstruction” as it relates to transitioning to a paper print. You will learn how to examine every detail of your image and the treatment required so your print will meet or exceed your expectations. Learning image deconstruction is a key element in understanding how to be a successful print maker. \nDuring the workshop we will examine various papers\, inks and lighting. The same image can feel quite different when printed on papers with different paper bases\, matte papers vs photo papers and even different brands of papers. \nBy the end of the workshop\, you will begin to look at your images in a completely different way when thinking about making photographic prints.
