SUMMARY:Best of Light Sensitive 2012
DESCRIPTION:Best of Light Sensitive 2012\nIn March of 2012\, Art Intersection showed the work of 44 photographers in the annual exhibition Light Sensitive\, a national juried exhibition of analog photography prints of which all prints are produced in a wet darkroom. \nDr. Rebecca Senf\, Norton Family Curator from the Center for Creative Photography\, selected the work from over 200 entries. \nThree photographers were chosen from Light Sensitive to exhibit in our East Gallery\, giving them the opportunity to show a larger body of work. All three photographers use labor-intensive historical photographic processes whose origins date back to the 19th-century. Christina Z. Anderson’s prints are created\, layer-by-layer\, in milk protein (casein) and colored with historic watercolor pigments. Michael T. Puff and Bryan David Griffith both use the platinum/palladium printing process using precious metals as the light sensitive component. Each piece is created by hand\, requiring extensive materials and expertise to achieve one final print. \nIn addition to laborious technical challenges\, there exists a harmonious balance of content and form\, bringing the viewer along as a willing participant in the understanding of each artist’s intent. \nLight Sensitive 2013\nThe 2013 Light Sensitive call for work is now available.
