DESCRIPTION:The Temple Gallery is pleased to present the photographs of artist Valerie Galloway in the exhibition Valerie Galloway: Mixed Media\, which opens Friday\, December 7\, 2012 with an artist reception from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The exhibition features Galloway’s beautiful\, hand-colored\, toned gelatin silver photographs and archival pigment inkjet prints\, influenced by film noire and 1920s avant-garde photography. Galloway’s work is replete with a dark feminine sensuality\, epitomized by coded plays on gender and sexuality like the visual double entendre\, Doppelgänger. \nFrench born\, artist Valerie Galloway lived all over the United States and Europe before graduating from the University of Arizona with a B.F.A. in photography in 1987. Galloway’s practice includes photography\, painting and mixed media. The subject matter of her work ranges from the nude to street photography in New York and Paris\, as well as Tucson’s Sonoran Desert. Her photographs and paintings have been exhibited all over the country. Galloway’s work has been published in American Photo\, Photo Metro\, Photonews\, Not Only Black and White\, La Fotografia\, Nerve\, Shots andStylehive. After living in New York City for many years\, she now resides in Tucson\, Arizona. \nPlease join us at the artist reception for Valerie Galloway: Mixed Media on Friday\, December 7\, 2012 from 5:30 to 7:30pm. The Temple Gallery is located at the Temple of Music and Art 330 S. Scott Ave. in downtown Tucson. \nIn December\, the Temple Gallery is open Tuesday-Friday\, 10am – 5pm\, Saturday\, December 1 & 8\, 3-8pm and Saturday\, December 8 & 15\, 12-8pm. The gallery is closed Dec. 24\, 25\, 29\, 30 and 31. Regular hours are Monday-Friday\, 10am to 5pm and on Saturday and Sunday\, before Arizona Theatre Company Performances.
