SUMMARY:Urban Street Photography Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Urban Street Photography Workshop is an introduction to the genre of street photography. We will discuss the many techniques used to capture life as it happens. There will be emphasis on personal concerns and temperament needed to be a street photographer\, and discuss how to find your own personal street photography style. Time will be spent on the street seeing first hand how the techniques can be applied. \nThis workshop\, taught by Neil A. Miller\, and is a part of PhotoTapas\, celebrating February as Arizona’s month of photography. Click here to register! \nAbout Neil \nNeil A. Miller was born and raised in the suburbs of Cleveland\, Ohio in 1945. He first became interested in photography in high school. Early work experience was photography related and included summers as publicity photographer for a local racetrack. After completing a B.F.A. in Photography at Ohio University\, the US Navy offered photographic experience well beyond his expectations. Assignments ranged from documenting NATO exercises in the North Atlantic to earthquake assistance in Peruvian Andes. Following the Navy and a move to Arizona\, his career took him into television news videography and into teaching photography at the college level. Art on the other hand became his mode of expressing life and resulted in an M.F.A. from Arizona State University. Participation in the Ansel Adams and Friends of Photography workshops as a student and assistant was most influential in his creative career. The opportunity to study with Wynn Bullock\, Gary Winogrand\, Jerry Uelsmann\, Fredrick Sommer\, W. Eugene Smith along with Ansel Adams and other masters opened a vision for his future. \nAtlantic City\, New Jersey – 1974\, Neil A. Miller
