DESCRIPTION:The Last Resort – Jane Lindsay Master of Fine Arts Exhibition \n \n“Growing up in the rural southwest was in many ways a unique experience\, primarily because my childhood lacked many of the things other American kids had.” Linsay writes\, “I grew up without TV or media influence for the first 12 years of my life. I learned to listen to stories told to me by my elders at the dinner table\, and I learned to tell stories from the same people.” \n“When I moved to Arizona to return to school at age 49\, I moved into a trailer park for retired people with my husband. There I experienced a loneliness I hadn’t expected. Often I thought I had made a mistake\, a big mistake. As time passed I comforted myself with story telling and making images that tell a story. In my loneliness I found solace in telling my neighbor’s stories. Initially it became the means of finding the familiar within an unfamiliar space. The Last Resort is a collection of short stories. They are bound by love and the many implications of our relationship to one another.”
