The Altered Photo: Photography and Mixed Media with Ron Bimrose
Register by March 17
Take your photographs into another realm by experimenting with mixed media! Using your photographs and appropriated images we will explore the interplay of various media with photography for visual and conceptual rewards. We will cover a broad range of techniques including collage, drawing, and more to meet the challenge of integrating mechanical photographic elements with various hand-applied media.
By combining disparate images and elements and introducing handwork you can create something entirely new! Through these various exercises you will expand your visual vocabulary and develop your personal approach and vision.
Born in Berkeley, California, Ron Bimrose showed an early interest in art and natural history. His travels brought him to Arizona to study with Allen Dutton at Phoenix College, which eventually led to a Master of Fine Art at Arizona State University. While working on his master’s degree Bimrose began to combine photography and printmaking with both etching and monotypes. The mix of drawing, painting, collage and photo-collage that is what Bimrose is most known for now grew out of that time.
