SUMMARY:Roaming Arizona’s Route 66 - Led by Kerrick James
DESCRIPTION:A Through Each Others Eyes Self-Drive Workshop \nThe workshop will include photo critiques offered of guest’s work\, possible night shooting of some local Route 66 motels\, etc. Participants will meet in Kingman for an overview presentation by Kerrick James the evening before the workshop and will overnight in Kingman. \nDay 1: Shoot Powerhouse Museum in Kingman at 9 a.m. (Route 66 lore)\, then drive east on longest surviving drivable stretch of Route 66. The first stop is Hackberry with it’s famous general store. Following are Truxton\, Peach Springs\, and Seligman\, where we will spend the afternoon into twilight shooting the kitschy side of Route 66\, and dine at the Roadkill Cafe. Overnight in Seligman. Possible night shots on Route 66 near the Snowcap Diner. \nDay 2: Sleep in a bit and drive through Ash Fork and Williams\, searching for remains of the Mother Road. Do the same in Flagstaff\, with a stop for lunch. Motoring on to Two Guns and Canyon Diablo with stops in Winslow and Holbrook to shoot murals and stay at the Wigwam Motel\, which we’ll shoot at twilight. \nDay 3: Return to Winslow for morning light at Standing on the Corner Park. Final critiques will take place at the historic La Posada\, with lunch in the Turquoise Room from 11-2 p.m. In the afternoon\, you’ll be free to shoot Route 66\, with a possible twilight shoot at the Museum Club in Flagstaff. The workshop ends this evening. \nYour primary workshop instructor is Kerrick James\, who has photographed two recent best-selling books on the subject: Backroads of Route 66\, and Ghost Towns of Route 66. \nThe price includes three night’s lodging and final luncheon\, plus all photo instruction and critiques. We will book rooms at ‘vintage’ motels authentic to the Route 66 experience\, including the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook. Single supplement applies.
