SUMMARY:Photo Zines for Teens: Exploring Your Creative Voice
DESCRIPTION:Dive into the world of DIY and make your own zine (a self-published\, small-circulation magazine) of your images! In this four-day workshop you will learn how to work with images in a group\, consider sequence and presentation\, and execute your creative vision. \nWe will work as a class to help organize your images. You will then design and print a zine that reflects your artistic style\, using hands-on methods like collaging as well as cutting-edge technology like Adobe InDesign. \nAll students will take home their finished zine as well as several copies to trade with friends. There are no rules in zine-making; be prepared to have fun and get creative! \nAll materials provided. \nWhat is a zine?\nZines (slang for “magazine”) and self-publishing have a long history in popular culture – from political pamphlets in the early days of our country to documentation of the punk scene in the 1970s and ‘80s\, circulating self-published writing or artwork has been a powerful form of expression. \nZines can be about anything and everything\, and range from being totally hand-made to completely digitally produced. Today\, photography zines serve as informal artist books that usually revolve around a particular theme and\, when traded or circulated\, are a fantastic way for more people to enjoy your artwork. \nZines featured in header: But Can They Fight: People\, vol IV by Johnny Salas; Limbo by Laura Marks; Jade Blooming at Night by Jason Roberts Dobrin; Femme Fotale volumes I and III; Over the Shoulder vol. 2 by Ethan Roads; Something in the Way\, but Barely There by Jacob Koestler; and A Forest. Vol IV: Something about ghosts by Fabrizio Musu. \nRefund Policy
