Best of Light Sensitive 2013

Best of Light Sensitive 2013

The Art Intersection Staff selected three artists from forty-six in the Light Sensitive exhibition, our signature traditional photography exhibition, to have their own exhibition called “Best of Light Sensitive 2013”.  This year Katherine Ware, Curator of Photography at the New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe, juried Light Sensitive and selected work for the exhibition in March and April, 2013.

Robin V. Robinson is a fifth generation California central coast native. She hand prints her work in the darkroom from film, preferring time-honored 20th century processes. Robinson shows her work in community venues and art galleries internationally, in corporate spaces, private collections and museums. She has received top awards in international underwater photographic competitions, and was recently awarded “Best Photography” in the Monterey Museum of Art Biennial, where her work is in the permanent collection.

Rebecca Ross is a photographer and public artist who looks to her personal everyday experiences as inspiration for her portraits, documentary photographs and botanical images. Ross’s work has been exhibited in the US and Europe and is represented in public and private collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts-Houston, Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture and Austin’s Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center.

Jill Ison, an Arizona native born in 1977, was introduced to the intriguing world of art when she decided to take her first photography class at Chandler Gilbert Community College. Busy at home with three little girls, but completely taken by her experience there, she has continued to take classes to further develop her skills as an artist. “By pointing the camera at my loved ones close at hand, I am also ultimately pointing it at myself.”  Jill makes photographs with her medium format Pentax 6×7 camera, and then makes gelatin silver prints with them in the dark room.
