SUMMARY:Artist Lecture with Claire A. Warden
DESCRIPTION:The salt printing process\, also known as calotypes or photogenic drawings\, was discovered and perfected by William Henry Fox Talbot\, who published a manual on the process in 1839. The salted paper process is a printing-out process (meaning it requires no development) and was the first documented positive-negative photographic process—the precursor to modern photography! This process was almost universally used throughout the 1840s – 1850s and was a popular choice for photographic positives until the 1860s. The long tonal range and aesthetically pleasing color of salted paper printing has allowed this historically significant and unique process to withstand the test of time. To try your hand at this fascinating process\, register for our Salt Printing Workshop with Claire on Saturday\, April 30! Click here to sign up. \nPhoto by Claire A. Warden \nAbout Claire A.
