Artist Statement

The works in this portfolio are palladium prints, using the Willis process of the 1870’s as adapted by Ron Reeder. They focus on the “sense of the past,” an include images from China and Asia.

Bio

A retired philosophy professor, Jim has traveled widely in recent years in search of palladium images evoking “The Sense of the Distant Past.” For him the palladium process is the ideal way to evoke the past – and to provide a a rich, dynamic spectrum of nuanced, archival, tonal blacks. The focus has been on far-away places like the Silk Route in China and in South East Asia. He currently lives in Claremont, California.
